3. Wool Camp and Sheep Fleece Competition

We will once again be hosting the Wool Camp event in Kannus and Sievi, together with the European Wool Association and Isokumpu, in mid-August.
This year we will be staying at Hotel Jokihelmi in the center of Kannus. The hotel is located right next to the train station, so it is easy for those arriving by train to find our way there.
We will be organizing lectures, workshops and exhibitions at Kannus Town Hall, right next to the hotel.
During the three days, you will be able to hear news about wool from Finland and the world. If you wish, you can participate in workshops, work demonstrations and view exhibitions. We will visit a sheep farm and get to know Finnish sheep breeds.
In addition, the highlight of the event will of course be the international wool competition, which will be held on Sunday at the Isokumpu. The judges will again arrive from Great Britain and Sweden.
At the end of the competition, the wool will be auctioned.

Vietämme jälleen elokuun puolessa välissä European Wool Associationin ja Isokummun yhdessä järjestämää Wool Camp tapahtumaa Kannuksessa ja Sievissä.
Tänä vuonna majoitumme Kannuksen keskustassa sijaitsevassa hotelli Jokihelmessä. Hotelli sijaitsee välittömästi rautatieaseman vieressä, joten junalla saapujien on helppo löytää perille.
Luennot, työpajat ja näyttelyt järjestämme Kannuksen kaupungintalolla aivan hotellin vieressä.
Kolmen päivän aikana pääset kuulemaan uusia villaisia tuulia Suomesta ja maailmalta. Osallistumaan halutessasi työpajoihin, työnäytöksiin ja katselemaan näyttelyitä. Vierailemme lammastilalla ja tutustumme suomalaisiin lammasrotuihin.
Lisäksi tapahtuman huipennuksena on tietenkin kansainvälinen villakilpailu, joka järjestetään sunnuntaina Isokummun tiloissa. Tuomarit saapuvat jälleen Isosta Britanniasta ja Ruotsista.
Kilpailun lopuksi villat huutokaupataan.

Wool Camp will culminate on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 1-4 pm with the Fleece Competition and On-Line Auction.
You can also participate in the event on site at Isokummun Kehräämö.
Possibility to start with lunch from 12 noon. Lunch price 12€/person. If you will participate in the meal, please register by 14.08.2025 at and inform us of any dietary restrictions.
The event is attended by people interested in wool from all over the world. It is a great opportunity to gain a lot of information and exchange ideas.

All fleeces will receive feedback from the judges. Feedback will be sent to the participants after the competition.
A sample of each fleece is sent to WoolPowers for OFDA measurement. Participants also receive feedback from this study.
The best fleeces in each category will be awarded. The best fleece of the entire competition will be awarded the GoldenFleece award.

Kansainvälinen villakilpailu
Wool Camp huipentuu sunnuntaina 16.08.2026 klo 13-16 Fleece kilpailuun ja On-Line huutokauppaan.
Tapahtumaan voi osallistua myös paikan päällä Isokummun Kehräämöllä.
Mahdollisuus aloittaa lounaalla klo 12 alkaen. Lounaan hinta 12 €/hlö. Mikäli osallistut ruokailuun niin ilmoittaudu 14.08.2025 mennessä ja kerro mahdolliset ruokarajoitteet.
Tapahtumaan osallistuu villasta kiinnostuneita ihmisiä ympäri maailman. Loistava tilaisuus saada paljon tietoa ja vaihtaa ajatuksia.

Kaikki fleecet saavat palautteen tuomareilta. Palaute lähetetään kilpailun jälkeen osallistujille.
Jokaisesta fleecestä lähtee näyte ofda-mitattavaksi WoolPowersille. Myös tästä tutkimuksesta osallistujat saavat palautteen.
Jokaisen kategorian parhaat fleecet palkitaan. Koko kilpailun paras fleece palkitaan GoldenFleece- palkinnolla.
